General dress eyewear (streetwear or non-safety frames) do not meet the standards set forth by ANSI / CSA Standards for Safety Prescription Eyewear. The ANSI Z87.1 (USA) and CSA Z94.3 (Canada) standards specify that safety prescription eyewear must meet stringent design, structural, and lens retention requirements. Are Regular Eyeglasses Enough Protection?
Unfortunately, no, regular glasses are not enough to protect your eyes. In fact, wearing your regular glasses while working in construction, playing sports, or working with chemicals can actually create more danger than they prevent.
Although you may be able to see better while performing your tasks, your regular eyeglasses do not possess the protective properties like anti-shatter lenses that proper safety glasses have. These glasses are awesome. They’re comfortable and tough. GooglesDirect’s customer service is outstanding. The left lense prescription was off a bit, but they gave me a return label and had the glasses fixed and back to me in 6 days. I’m taking these on my upcoming deployment and I couldn’t be happier with the quality.
Tried to order a different pair of glasses originally. The ones I had picked my prescription wouldn’t have worked for. Customer service sent me an email and helped me find these ones. Perfect fit and the prescription lenses are great. (I bought these to use as safety glasses for work) Wore them all day and didn’t want to switch back to my regular glasses.
I’ve found that these are very comfortable to wear all day and with Transitions lenses I don’t have to think about switching to sunglasses outside either. Also, a big shout out to Goggles Direct customer service as they fixed me up quickly when I wasn’t quite happy with the first set of lenses that I chose online.
Love these frames I ordered these as prescription safety sunglasses. I purchased two pair; one with gradient gray lenses and the other with standard polarized lenses. I like the standard better. The gradient style for me appeared hazy or cloudy, so I used these as a backup. Order the anti-fog!! These frames fit close to the forehead and tend to fog. I use them for cycling.
I am SOOO thrilled to have prescription sunglasses that actually wrap around and fit like I want them too! Comfy, and do a great job of blocking out the sun. I wish they were a little darker because I get headaches from sunlight and always want really dark lenses, but these cut glare really well and were even really helpful driving through heavy snow in the mountain passes, helped with visibility just by cutting the glare so well.
